From Bread & Wine to Faith & Giving - Week 2

Today’s world often feels like a wilderness: threatening, overwhelming, on the verge of chaos. ISIS, Ebola, Ukraine, and Domestic Violence. The problems seem so large, and the resources seem so few.

When a crowd of 5,000 in the wilderness was hungry, Jesus said to the disciples, “You give them something to eat.” At first the disciples were dumbfounded. How could they feed  so many people?

But, the disciples did what Jesus said. They gathered resources —five loaves and two fish. Jesus blessed the resources, and they were more than enough.

Jesus still says to the church, “You give them something to eat.” Our resources often seem small, whether looking at the world, the nation, or the church budget. But when we do what Jesus says, there is enough.
